Butcher jumped the shark at some point and I was afraid it was going to get too far from the original essence of the story while dealing with the multidimensional shit. It’s a relief because I wasn’t sure I liked the direction the story has been heading in the last few books. I didn’t know what to expect after so much time between books, but luckily Peace Talks was more of all the things that make this series great: good characters, funny dialogue, supernatural politics, lots of magic, and stakes that keep getting higher and higher. I briefly considered abandoning it, but then Skin Game (possibly the best of the series – PARKOUR!!) came along and fuego! – total re-ignition. Ghost Story and Cold Days were by-far my least favorite books in the series. The last few Dresden novels have been hit or miss. Totally worth the wait! ^_^ Especially because we’re getting TWO Dresden novels this year (Battle Ground is currently slated for release September 29th!). Peace Talks was everything I hoped it would be and more. But can he succeed, when dark political manipulations threaten the very existence of Chicago–and all he holds dear? – Goodreads The Overview: When the Supernatural nations of the world meet up to negotiate an end to ongoing hostilities, Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard, joins the White Council’s security team to make sure the talks stay civil. Included in the Northwest Ordinance were three remarkable conditions: freedom of religion, free universal education, and most importantly, the prohibition of slavery. A Massachusetts minister named Manasseh Cutler was instrumental in opening this vast territory to veterans of the Revolutionary War and their families for settlement. Pulitzer Prize–winning historian David McCullough rediscovers an important and dramatic chapter in the American story-the settling of the Northwest Territory by dauntless pioneers who overcame incredible hardships to build a community based on ideals that would come to define our country.Īs part of the Treaty of Paris, in which Great Britain recognized the new United States of America, Britain ceded the land that comprised the immense Northwest Territory, a wilderness empire northwest of the Ohio River containing the future states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin. It would’ve been nice for that mode to be available from the start for those of us who already know our way around this series. The good news is that if you were hoping for more of a challenge, finishing each campaign unlocks a new Challenge difficulty that has started to push some of my previous winning strategies to their limits, causing me to reassess which CO and strategy to use on each map when given a choice. While the missions may not always be difficult, some ended up taking a while to finish due to the scope of battles where you control multiple armies, or tactical errors on my part, like losing my last infantry unit to hidden artillery, requiring me to spend a large number of extra turns to wipe out the enemy army instead of capturing the enemy base in two or three turns. He is handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. My boyfriend’s older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. My nightmares, however, became my obsession. Genre: Dark romance (Suitable for ages 18+) Here’s my book review for Penelope Douglas’ Corrupt. Without giving too much away, I just wanna say, I hope the third book, Damon’s story will make everything worth it. I daresay, I was glad I read Hideaway before Corrupt. Since I went and read Hideaway first, I figured I should write up my reviews in that order as well. Hi Y’all! As I pointed out in my last post, I read Devil’s Night #1 and #2 over the weekend.
